The Retreat at Quarters Lake in Baton Rouge is a dedicated grief support center created by The Hospice of Baton Rouge to serve individuals and families coping with loss. Surrounded by peaceful natural beauty, the Retreat offers free, inclusive services for people of all ages—including children, teens, and adults—impacted by death, suicide, caregiving, or other forms of "living grief." Its mission is to foster healing and hope through holistic, personalized support rooted in empathy, creativity, and community.
The center provides a wide range of therapeutic programs including counseling, art and music therapy, grief yoga, pet therapy, and spiritual guidance. The Retreat also functions as an educational hub, raising awareness about grief and providing resources for professionals, families, and the broader community. Its thoughtfully designed campus includes a multi-faith sanctuary, private counseling rooms, classrooms, an auditorium, outdoor gathering spaces, a Butterfly Garden, and the peaceful Hope Pond—offering a safe space for reflection, connection, and healing.
